A rare Worcester mug

Of bell shape with a spreading foot and a simple scrolled handle, painted in blue with an unusual version of the 'Willow Root' pattern, a standing Long Eliza figure standing between two fences, a willow tree to the right, the reverse with a fisherman in a boat, comma-like motifs flanking the handle terminals, 10cm high (cracked, rivets removed and filled)

  • Provenance: Ian and Susi Sutherland Collection, lot 145. Although essentially the same as the 'Willow Root' pattern, there are some differences in the painted details, most particularly with regard to the figure who stands in an unusual sideways pose
