Footnotes

  • The name 'Kite' is believed to stem from the name given to a popular tourist route on the Sante Fe railroad loop which became popular around the turn of the century. It in turn had been dubbed the 'Kite' due to its figure-eight layout which boasted 'no scene twice seen'.

Saleroom notices

  • Sir William Roandolph Hearst's name (incorrectly spelled in the cataloguing)is engraved on the trophy as the person who presented the award at the time.
