Apart from the engine and transmission, Jaguar's E-Type was all new. Introduced at Geneva in March 1961, it took the motoring press by storm.
Lighter and more powerful than it's predecessor, the car was capable of a top speed of 150mph, and was bested only by Ferraris and the Mercedes-Benz 300SL.
After many significant upgrades in 1965, the E-Type went through subtle changes in following years. So-called "Series 1.5" cars, an unofficial designation, had exposed headlamps and new switchgear.
In anthracite or gunmetal grey and with a red interior, this car is understood to have been the subject of a restoration in the early 2000s, which provided the previous owner with a tidy example of the model, lightly modernized in terms of choosing a modern metallic paint.
