A Charles II ebony quarter repeating bracket timepiece
Signed Joseph Knibb, London, circa 1685
Domed top with shaped handle and applied scroll pierced gilt paneled mounts, gilt sound fret to the door with further scroll mounts flanking the square latched dial plate, signed below the silvered roman chapter ring with fleur-de-lis half hour markers enclosing the finely matted center, pierced blued steel hands winged cherub spandrels, single fusee movement with latched ringed baluster pillars, replaced verge escapement, quarter repeating on two bells mounted on front and back plates, also signed Joseph Knibb Londini fecit on the backplate engraved with scrolls and tulips. 12in.
