A Victorian brass skeleton timepiece
attributed to Smiths of Clerkenwell, London, late 19th century
The pierced frame with stylized leaf finials and four tapered screwed pillars, forming an arch enclosing a compass and flanked by pedestals supporting recumbent gilt lions , on rectangular stepped base and further oval marble plinth on bun feet, chain fusee movement between the plates with anchor escapement and spring suspended mock gridiron pendulum, scalloped silvered roman chapter ring with center pierced with interlaced rings, blued steel hands, with glass dome. 15 in. high (excluding dome)
