Marcazzi, numerous engraved illustrations and vignettes. 4to (285 x 205 mm). Full red crushed morocco by "Petit, successeur de Simier," spines gilt in Italianate fashion, t.e.g., others untrimmed. Fine.

Dedicated to Empress Elizaveta Petrovna of Russia, this lavish edition of Dante attracted over 350 subscribers, and featured the first new engravings of the Divine Comedy since 1544. A very attractive set.
Provenance: anonymous period armorial bookplates, with motto "Fata viam invenient."
