A rare and massive American bowie knife by George Stewart
The 12 1/4 inch single edged spear point blade stamped on one side G. Stewart. Recurved brass crossguard with black leather spacer. Brass ferrule. One-piece crown staghorn grip with dome brass pommel cap. With original brass-mounted black leather scabbard, the front incised with borders and a geometric panel. Together with a copy of New England Cutlery by Philip R. Pankiewicz, on the cover of which this knife is illustrated.
Condition: Blade showing some light pitting, scattered scratches and one chip to edge. Brass with dark age patina. Grip fine. Scabbard scuffed, the tip with old repair.
