A Pattern 1865 highland officer's undress sword for the Highland Light Infantry
Straight 33 inch double edged blade with two central fullers, one side etched with foliage, crown and VR cipher and a bugle horn framing the regimental numeral 71 with ribands reading Highland/Light Infantry; the reverse with fourteen regimental battle honors. Cruciform hilt, the crossguard with ball finials and long languets, the grip wrapped in grey shagreen and silver wire. Together with replacement brown leather-covered field scabbard.
Condition: Blade with smooth dark patina showing sharp engraving and series of small nicks to edge. Fine hilt showing some very light pitting.
