A British Pattern 1796 light cavalry officer's saber by Henry Osborne
Broad, curved 33 inch fullered blade with 13 inch blued and gilt panel engraved with conventional foliage, panoply, Royal arms and crown over GR cipher. Spine marked J.J. Runkel Solingen. Steel stirrup hilt of slightly variant form. Black leather and silver wire-wrapped grip. Steel two-ring scabbard engraved below throat Henry Osborne/Sword Cutler/Bordesly----/Birmingham.
Condition: Fine blade showing minor spotting and retaining much of the blued and gilt decoration. Grip wrapping with light wear. Scabbard showing patches of spotting/light pitting overall with some wear to markings.
