A British Pattern 1822 infantry officer's sword by Wilkinson
Lieutenant William Frederick Middleton, 13th Regiment of Foot
Serial no. 11062 for 1861. Slightly curved 21 1/2 inch blade etched with foliage, crown and VR cipher. Ricasso with Wilkinson marks, proof and serial number. Gilt brass hilt of standard pattern, the grip wrapped in grey shagreen and copper wire. Steel two-ring scabbard with german silver throat.Condition: Blade cleaned and showing generally sharp etching and some patches of light pitting. Hilt with minor marks, the grip showing some wear and minor losses to shagreen. Scabbard showing some light spotting and minor pitting.
