A British Pattern 1803 flank company officer's saber
The curved 30 inch fullered blade engraved with conventional florals and, on one side, a panoply of arms below the crown and GR cipher, the reverse with the 1801-16 Royal Coat-of-Arms above a riband inscribed Osborne's/Warranted. Gilt brass lionhead hilt of regulation pattern, the knucklebow molded with light infantry bugle over the crown and Royal cipher. Grey shagreen and copper wire-wrapped grip. Leather scabbard with gilt copper mounts.
Condition: Blade showing some light pitting towards the point, the decoration retaining slight traces of gilt finish. Hilt retains most of the original gilt finish. Outer guard with slight period repair. Grip fine, the wire retaining slight traces of gilt finish. Scabbard scuffed, showing small tear to spine, with partially open seam but generally sound. Mounts with scattered marks and retaining traces of gilt finish, the throat missing the frog stud.
