A lobster-tailed pot helmet
in mid-17th century style
The two-piece skull with ten narrow ribs, the apex with pierced finial on star-shaped plate; the front with bracket for sliding nasal, now missing. Front edges flanged to form slightly guttered brim, the outer edge turned. Rear fitted with neck guard worked as four lames.
Condition: Dark patination, areas of pitting and wear, one side of skull worn through at one rib.
