incised 'A. Rodin' (on the left side of the pillar), with the stamp '© by Musée Rodin 1962' (on the lower right side of the base), with the foundry mark 'Georges Rudier Fondeur Paris' (on the reverse) and stamped with the raised signature 'A. Rodin' (on the interior)
from the plaster copy from the collection of Musée Rodin by the Alexis Rudier foundry in 1945 followed by 11 unnumbered copies by the Georges Rudier foundry between 1953 and 1965
conceived circa 1885, this bronze version was cast in 1962
bronze with greenish black patina
