A Walt Disney celluloid from "Sleeping Beauty"
1959, gouache on celluloid, the three cel set-up depict Briar Rose when she first meets Prince Phillip from the scene when she bumps into him in the forest while she is singing "Once Upon a Dream" to her animal friends, applied to a watercolor pan production background from the scene when Prince Phillip rides through the forest, matted.
According to the consignor, he wrote Eyvind Earle a letter asking him to examine the enclosed copies of backgrounds (the consignor sent him copies of backgrounds along with the letter) and to indicate "Yes" or "No" on the back of the backgrounds if they had been done by him. On this particular background, he had indicated that he had done it. This lot comes with a letter that the consignor wrote and a copy of the response letter from the office of Eyvind Earle and a copy of the background marked "yes".
