1940, gouache on celluloid, the multi-cel set-up depicts a close-up image of Chernabog's face surrounded by demons and phantoms that are drawn to him when he emerges from the top of the mountain from the Night on Bald Mountain sequence in the film, some paint chips on his horns, framed.

Footnotes

  • Vladimir Tytla started at Disney in 1932. Having worked on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Brave Little Tailor, he was given the artistic challenge to create the evil and sinister character, Chernabog, in the film Fantasia. Disney hired the horror actor Bela Lugosi to be used as the model of Chernabog, but Tytla was not impressed and so decided to use Wilfred Jackson, a fellow animator, instead. These are the last two pieces from the estate.
