• The current owner purchased this DB4 in 1978 from a friend who had only recently bought the car from a restorer. The latter had discovered the Aston in 'barn find' condition and undertaken only essential work to get it into roadworthy condition for sale. From new the DB4 had Goodwood Green paintwork (slightly darker than British Racing Green) with beige leather seats and green carpets. Prior to purchase, the seats had been replaced by a set in black leather as the originals had perished while languishing in the barn, and the paintwork had been changed to British Racing Green.
  The vendor used the car as everyday transport for approximately 3-4 years until he acquired a house with garage in 1982, at which time it was laid up. A long-term restoration project commenced in the mid-1980s when '343 DXF' was shipped off to concours-winning restorer, Martin Rayner in Cranfield. The car was completely stripped back to the bare bodyshell including the removal of the lower section of the aluminium panelling to expose the chassis fully. The chassis and body were then meticulously restored to remove all corrosion, and over the course of the next 15-20 years the Aston remained permanently garaged while the restoration proceeded at a leisurely pace. In the late 1990s/early 2000s the project progressed steadily and was finally completed in January 2005, whereupon the DB4 went directly into storage with Konig Cars in Milton Keynes. It has remained with Konig ever since and has not been driven on the road since completion.
  Other specialists involved in this lengthy, no-expense-spared rebuild include Motorman Engineering Ltd under the direction of David Martin (ex-Richard Williams) and Tony Zalkin (see details on file). Motorman replaced the cylinder head with a DB4 'Special Series' (Vantage) head, which had been obtained by the vendor and rebuilt to 'unleaded' specification by Richard Williams. The triple SU carburettors were restored by the SU Carburettor Company and the rear axle completely overhauled by Super Torque Axle (Salisbury axle specialists) while Gary Wright Trimming of Milton Keynes was responsible for re-trimming the interior. Additional work carried out included overhauling and repainting the suspension, re-coring the radiator, reconditioning all the instruments, and repairing and re-chroming the bumpers. New parts fitted include the front grille, all light fittings, wire wheels and tyres.
  '343 DXF' is finished in British Racing Green with matching Wilton carpets and beige Connolly hide upholstery. Presented in generally excellent condition, the car is offered with copy build sheet, dynamometer printout, approximately 90% of restoration invoices, current MoT and Swansea V5.

• This vehicle has been withdrawn from the Sale due to an engine issue which became apparent while the car was recently recomissioned for the road, but will still be present at Works Service to view. It will be repaired and offered at our Goodwood Festival of Speed Sale on 2 July 2010.
