Footnotes

  • The 1924 F.A. Cup Final was contested by Newcastle United and Aston Villa at Wembley. Newcastle won 2–0, the goals scored by Neil Harris and Stan Seymour.

Alexander "Sandy" Mutch began his playing career for Aberdeen before playing for Huddersfield Town between 1910 and 1922, winning the F.A. Cup once. While playing for Huddersfield, he played in two F.A. Cup Finals - 1920 where they lost 1-0 to Aston Villa after extra time, and in the 1922 Cup Final which they won 1-0 against Preston North End. In 1924 he was in the Newcastle team for the F.A. Cup Final and played in every round leading up to the final, but shortly before the game he suffered a bad knee injury which eventually led to his retirement as a player. He later became the coach for the first team and then finally worked as a groundsman.
