Pele's final international match worn shirt from 1971 (Brazil v Yugoslavia)
A yellow short sleeved shirt with green trim to collar and cuffs, embroidered with Brazil badge to front and green number 10 to the reverse. This shirt was worn by Pele in his final international appearance for Brazil v Yugoslavia 18/07/1971 in Rio's Maracana Stadium which ended in a 2-2 draw, and was exchanged with Yugoslavia number 6 defender Dragan Holcer at the end of the game. The lot includes a statement from Dragan Holcer confirming this as well as a picture of him next to the team boards for the game. The shirt was displayed in a cafe in Split, Croatia for more than 20 years.

  • In 1971 Pele decided to retire from international football while he was still a top player, completing 111 appearances and finishing with an international scoring record of 97 goals.
