Footnotes

  • An attractive album compiled by a relative of Dawson Massy. Includes his passport (allowing him travel to Calais in 1817), a confirmation of his position as stipendary assistant curate of the Parish of Woodchester in Gloucestershire and an oval silhouette portrait most probably of him. He appears to have been a relative of the Baron Massy of Duntrileague, who owned "The Hermitage" in Co. Limerick, which is depicted in a gouache view of anglers on the Falls of Doonass on the River Shannon (see illustration).
