Footnotes

  • This sword would appear to fill the gap between the so called coffin pommel sword of 1794, and the 1806 pattern sword which was introduced when the regiment became hussars. It is believed that there are three similar but more ornate examples on display at Windsor Castle.

    Provenance
    The Jeff R. Worrall Collection.

    Literature
    G. Worrall, Antique Arms and Militaria, 'The 1796 Light Cavalry Sword', Part 1., September 1994.
