An unusual Staffordshire pearlware 'Woodsman' Toby jug, circa 1790
Modelled seated and holding a pear shaped foaming jug in both hands supported on his left knee, a small barrel between his feet, to his left rests a cleaver and to his right an axe and pipe, between his teeth he hold a knife or spoon, he is attired in a pale green tricorn and jacket detailed in dark blue and with dark blue breeches and shoes, set on a canted square base, 24.5cm (repair to rim).
