WHITE (JOHN CLAUDE) An important album of images taken by White during Younghusband's Tibet Mission of 1903-1904, 70 platinum prints and 2 folding panoramas, images approximately 160 x 210mm., captioned on the mounts, contemporary half green morocco, lettered 'TIBET' on the upper cover, sailcloth chemise, oblong folio, [c.1905]

  • Provenance: Lieut. William Pyt Bennett who served with RGA 7th Mountain Battery (commanded by Major Fuller) throughout the Mission. Loosely inserted at end is a printed sheet headed "Some Notes on Lhasa", prepared by the Intelligence Branch at Simla prior to the Mission, an accompanying lithographed plan of Lhasa "compiled from native information by Lt. Colonel L.A. Waddell", and a printed key. The flyleaf is inscribed in pencil "Photographs taken by Claude White Esq. who accompanied the expedition as Political Officer"

Robinosn carries a pencilled note " J.A.
