Footnotes

  • Alexander Cattanach (sometimes incorrectly spelt Cattenach) was born in 1857 as the son of a stonemason. He later practised in Kingussie as an architect and contractor. He died on 3 September 1928 leaving six sons, one of whom also named Alexander, born in 1896, was also an architect. Alexander the younger continued the practice after his father's death and had a large practice, designing houses, hotels and shooting lodges throughout Scotland.
