A 17th century Japanese-export black lacquered and gilt cabinet on stand
With engraved brass hinges and lock plates, the pair of doors decorated with chinoiseries scenes including a pagoda by a river and birds enclosing ten variously sized drawers all painted with chinoisserie scenes in gold and black with poppies highlighted with cinnebar, the inside of the doors painted with bird and trees, the cabinet sides similarly decorated, raised on a later painted and carved wooden base with pierced acanthus apron on pierced baluster shaped legs, the base with alterations and additional strethening boards 104cm wide x 54cm deep x 175cm high, (40.5" wide x 21" deep x 68.5" high)
