A rare Meissen green-ground teabowl and saucer
circa 1730-35
The teabowl with two shaped quatrelobe reserves painted with indianische Blumen issuing from stylised rockwork including, on one side, a pagoda and fences, and a flower in the well, the saucer with pagodas and fences amidst rockwork and flowering plants with a bird in flight overhead, the saucer: 12.1cm diam.; the teabowl: 4.1cm high, crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue, impressed unidentified Dreher's mark of an asterisk to both (Rückert 1996, pl. 9, no. 14) (2)
