A tortoiseshell musical snuffbox,
circa 1835,
with the 2-air movement playing traditional dances, the 16-part sectional comb with the teeth in groups of four, extreme treble in one group of six, on comb bar bearing intertwined M stamp, on plain brass bedplate inscribed to front edge with Henri Margot No. 3, further (eligible) inscription to verso, in the tortoiseshell case with areas of semi-transparency, the lid with large raised study of a classical shoulder-length side profile of Apollo, radial-burst ground with mistletoe swag border before framed edge, stamped yellow metal hinge and lid lift, circular mother-of-pearl start/stop and change/repeat buttons to front, with a period key - 3.5/8in. (9.2cm) wide, the cylinder 2.3/8in.
