first quarter 20th Century,
with going-barrel movement, the bird with predominant tones of dark brown, with blue and green highlighted feathered plumage, moving painted metal beak, wings and tailfeather, rising through C scroll gilt grille stamped OMM, in large silver case in the form of a book, the full hinged filigree lid with lace-fold and spiral work, opening on a shaped clasp in the same taste, the top panel with geometric scrolls and flowers, the sides with faux page lines, spine with twin bands, the top with four blue agate bosses, mother-of-pearl bosses to top and clasp centres, the underside with further boss feet of moonstone, start/stop pull to right-hand side, with Griesbaum key - 4.1/4in. (10.7cm) wide
