A fine chamber barrel organ-on-stand, by James Butler,
early 19th century, in the gothic taste,
with four stops for Principal, Diapasion, Twelfth and Fifteenth, two further for drum and triangle, both with double hammers, four ranks of wood and metal pipes, with four barrels playing ten airs each as listed on ink handwritten list on the inside of the playing chamber door, in large imposing case with the sliding front panel of faux gilt pipes of tryptic lancet form, with each inset baring red cloth backdrop, flanking main body with pointed finials and battlement cornice to sides, crank to front-right with sliding gilt flower-head spindle guard, stop panel with plain insert, on base with two-barrel storage and endflap access on part ring-turned supports, with the fourth barrel loose and in need of restoration; together with a period brass pipe tuning tool, with cone end - 76in. (193cm) high, the barrels 17.1/4in. (44cm), the diameters 6in. (15cm)
