With Malta commemorative medal, Sports medal engraved (H.M.S.Castor 1929-30 G.E.West) in box of issue. With two Ashtrays with HMS Castor crest. Extremely fine. (Lot)

    Awarded DSM for Operation Pedestal.

    The lot comes with typed details of his naval career. He was born on 4.5.1908 and enlisted on 21.4.1925. He was discharged on 19.9.1932 and joined The Faculty of the American Church Missionary Society School at Kuling, Kiangsi, China. He rejoined for the duration of the war serving on HMS Vanity in the North Sea and Western approaches, then to HMS Defiance and HMS Charybdis which went down to the Mediterranean and supported the raid on Taranto. He then rejoined HMS Defiance then finished with HMS Pathfinder and was involved with convoy escort duty in the Mediterranean, Pacific and Far East, North African Landings, Sicily Landings, Salerno, Corsica and in support of land troops in Burma. He was released on 3.11.1945.
