    Captain Cyril Julian Goldsmid was born on 14.10.1880, he was the son of Sidney H.Goldsmid of 35 Chesham Place, London. He was educated at Eton and University College, Oxford. He was a Barrister-at-Law. He joined the 9th Lancers (Special Reserve), and served in France from 1914-1917 and then Italy from 1917-1918.
