    Mrs Osbourne, 1836, from whom purchased by the father of John Edward Tanner, Newbury, Berks, 1872 and thence by descent to the current owner

    The present painting, after Kneller's original portrait now in the Hermitage, Saint Petersburg, is offered with a letter from John Edward Tanner suggesting possible further provenance for the painting.
