Antoine Esquivillon. A continental silver pair cased pocket watch with repoussé outer case
Circa 1760
Gilt brass full plate movement separated by four square baluster pillars, with finely pierced balance cock and side plate, blue steel end piece, verge escapement and fusee, white enamel dial with black Roman numerals bordered by finely painted minute track and Arabic divisions at five minute intervals, plain inner case, outer case decorated with a repoussé scene probably of Diana seated beneath a tree with bow, arrows and hunting dogs

  • Though there is little information on their history, the Esquivillon name can be seen on a number of watches commonly dating between 1750 and 1790, and has been associated with repoussé cased watches originating from Paris in the era.
