Footnotes

  • In 1927 Charles Lindbergh succeeded in making the first non-stop crossing of the North Atlantic, from New York to Paris. This achievement, officially ratified by the IAF, was timed using Longines measurement equipment. The original hour angle watch was designed by Charles Lindbergh as a navigational aid for pilots. The indications on the dial are designed so that the wearer can tell the time in minutes and seconds, and the 'hour angle' or longitude.
