the drawings in pencil and gouache on beige paper , the clips, brooches and bracelets in blue, green, white, black and red, each cut out and arranged in collage form within a modern frame, length of frame 51cm.

  • For a similar piece to the design shown on the tenth line, second from right, designed by Charles Jacqueau see 'Cartier 1900-1939', Judy Rudoe, Harry N. Abrams Inc, 1997 edition, page 239, plate 171. It is described as a 'Broche poignee' or drawer handle brooch, formed of two half-rings with a central gem-set cylinder studded with cabouchons, the pin slots into a hole in the opposite terminal. It is noted that Jacqueau's working designs includes a number of brooches in this form.
