A late 17th century ebony veneered quarter repeating bracket timepiece

The caddy top with (replaced?) Knibb style handle over silk-backed sound frets and long glazed apertures to the sides, on a moulded base, the 6.25 inch square brass dial signed along the lower edge and set with winged cherubs head spandrels, the silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring enclosing a matted centre with blued steel hands, with latched dial feet to the single gut (gut broken) fusee movement united by six latched baluster shaped pillars, the verge escapement on a knife edge and repeating the hours and quarters on a nest of two bells and hammers. Together with a later pierced brass Knibb-style winding key with engraved foliage. 35cms (14ins) high. (2)
