Footnotes

  • Heuer launched the first Montreal models in 1972. The references 110503 W, B, N for luminous white, blue and black are shown in the 1972 Heuer catalogue. The Heuer Montreal was a good fit for an expansion beyond the northern borders of the US. Heuer provided time keeping expertises for the 1976 Olympic Games also at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal from 1978. Gilles Villeneuve driving for the Heuer sponsored Ferrari team in 1978 was the first Canadian to win the home Grand Prix.

The Heuer Montreal is a large watch reflecting well the trend of the 1970's. The case on the black PVD seems even larger with its thickly coated finish. Powered by the proven Calibre 12 automatic movement, the steel chronograph pushers are on the right side, whilst the steel winding crown is embedded in a protective recessed notch on the left. The dials of the new reference differs from the 1972 model. The steel indexes have been replaced by all luminous filed ones and the former contrastive 1/5 scale ring had the same colour as the dial.

The PVD Montreal was shown first in the 1976 Heuer catalogue and the Heuer Montreal was discontinued a year later. This black dialled Heuer Montreal PVD is in outstanding new old stock condition with its original sticker on the case back and with its original strap, making this an extremely rare example.
