SPEED (JOHN) A Mapp of the Sommer Ilands once Called the Bermudas, hand-coloured double-page map engraved by Abraham Goos, the title cartouche with the text in Latin and English, integral index of "Adventurers for 1622" below, the American coast outlined behind with Bermuda's actual position marked, two ships and two coats-of-arms (with tears resulting from oxidization) [cf. Shirley T.SPE-2d, T.SPE-2f], 402 x 529mm., Christopher Browne, [c.1700]

- VERY SCARCE IMPRINT. The last imprint of Speed's Bermuda listed in the Map Collectors' Circle (no.19, pp.7-8) is that published by Bassett and Chiswell in 1676. However, Shirley notes that Christopher Browne reprinted and issued separately a map of Virginia after the final printing of Speed's Prospect in 1676.
