A fine large jade gourd-shaped brush washer
18th century
Carved from a large long oval stone of very pale greenish-white tone, the sides shallowly grooved to resemble the fruit, three smaller gourd fruit growing from a long curling branch coiling along the underside to form a base and issuing large leaves, the branch turning over at the end to form a large well-hollowed naturalistic handle, five-legged pierced wood stand.
