A rare and impressive ivory 'pagoda' lantern and stand
18th/19th century
The hexagonal pagoda finely carved on each facet with female deities holding various musical instruments amidst cloud scrolls framed by floral sprays below pierced cartouches, below the slanted roof with dragons projecting from the ribs and surmounted by a pearl finial, all set atop an overlapping lotus pedestal, the stem with a classic scroll on the projecting mid-section between lotus petal panels, all raised on a hexagonal spreading base with floral bouques above lotus-petal panels, supported on a matching foot with archaistic C-scrolls, wood stand.
