A rare large mother-of-pearl-inlaid rosewood rectangular work box
Probably 18th century
The well-grained pale rosewood elaborately inlaid all over the visible surfaces with large-headed peony heads at the end of elaborately coiling leafy tendrils, symmetrically spaced within pairs of tied leaves around the border on the top, the sides set with two brass loop handles, the interior fitted with a tray formed as five various containers around a hinged panel.
