Footnotes

  • A very similar example was exhibited in Hong Kong in 1993, jointly presented by the Oriental Ceramic Society of Hong Kong and The Art Gallery, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, 2000 years of Chinese Lacquer, September-November 1993, illustrated in the Catalogue p.130, no.66. See also the example reproduced back and front in the Japanese publication Chugolu no Kogei geitsu (The Craftsmanship of Chinese Lacquer) the catalogue for the exhibition held in Showa 45 (1970) by the Toyko Bijutsu Club; this example is very similar to the present lot.
