Footnotes

  • Provenance: John Constable

Yu Wenxiang was the student of He Xuren, the famous snow-scene painter and member of the 'Eight Friends of Zhushan'. Many people in Jingdezheng think that Yu Wenxiang equalled, if not bettered, his master. Compare this plaque with lot 411 in this sale where the subject matter is the same.
