A rare archaistic enamelled moulded vase
18th century
The fluted ovoid body with broad sloping shoulder and tapering to a splayed foot, surmounted by a waisted neck terminating with wide disc-shaped mouth, the neck flanked by a pair of phoenix handles, moulded around the foot and shoulder with ruyi-heads and with pendent lappets and stiff upright plantain leaves to the neck, all enamelled in blue, green, white and red on a yellow ground, the rims enamelled brown in imitation of metal.
