A large bronze 'Shoulao' incense burner and cover

The bombé censer cast in high relief with aquatic creatures including a goose, fish, crustaceans and conches reserved on a wave ground, the shoulders decorated in low relief with stylised dragons reserved on a leiwen ground below the neck with an archaistic design also on the base, each of the upright handles formed of the elongated body of a dragon, the censer raised on tall animal mask feet issuing paws, all surmounted by an openwork cover cast with Shoulao riding his deer on the top of a blossoming prunus with birds perched on its branches, all supported on an impressive carved wood stand.
