Comprising five prints: one depicting Umegawa and Chubei from Meido no Hikyaku by Chikamatsu Monzaemon, published by Maruya Jinpachi (*1), the second a right sheet from the triptych Gotenzan no Hanamikago (*2), the third depicting two courtesans from the House of Komatsu, the fourth by Utamaro II depicting two bijin titled Edo Murasaki Yu no Senshoku with censor's seal Kiwame, dated 1808 (*3 ), the last by the Utamaro School depicting Umegawa and Chubei, all signed Utamaro hitsu, the last unsigned. The smallest 30.5cm x 14.5cm (12in x 5¾in), the largest 38cm x 26cm (15in x 10¼). (5).
