An impressive and unusually large Satsuma deep bowl

The exterior intricately and finely enamelled with two contrasting kacho-ga images enclosed within lobed panels, one depicting an outdoor leisurely scene of families along the shore of a lake, enjoying a Summer outing, the other of garden fowl and quails foraging for food among flowering seasonal shrubs, separated by vertical panels of rich swirling brocade and ho-o mon; the interior with a mass of densely clustered chrysanthemum blooms, signed with the Yasuda Company trade mark and seal Kyoto Tojiki Goshigaisha, Satsuma mon, Dai Nippon Ryozan. 21.6cm (8½in) high, 41cm (16 1/16in) diam.
