A katana koshirae
17th/18th century
The saya of black kawari-nuri lacquer with polished clouds, the iron tsuba of mokko form, pierced with a bat in silhouette beneath the inlaid silver moon, the uchigatana fittings of copper, decorated with 'creepy' things, the fuchi-gashira with frogs and snails, the kurikata engraved with a spider and the kojiri with a centipede, the menuki in the form of snakes with gilt eyes and the kogai inlaid in shakudo with cloves, unsigned.
