Third Intermediate Period, circa 1069-702 B.C.
Showing Osiris in the centre, holding the flail, seated in front of an offering table, on both sides columns of funerary texts repeating the same invocation to the god, 'Revered before Osiris, foremost of the Westerners, Lord of Abydos', in the upper register a band of plumes and uraei, 9¼ x 17½in (23.5 x 44.5cm)


  • Provenance:
    By descent from Phocion Jean Tano (d.1971), formerly an antiquities dealer in Cairo. The panel has been in the UK since the 1970s.
