Arabic manuscript on paper, 222 leaves, 17 lines to the page written in naskhi script in black ink, significant words picked out in red, inner margins ruled in red, catchwords, one illuminated headpiece in colours and gold, inner margins of folios 1v-2r ruled in gold, yellow and red, last folio, written in a different hand, includes colophon which states that this manuscript was copied by the author himself at Mecca and gives the date 19th Rabi' al-Awwal 1029/23rd February 1620, edges frayed, some crude repairs, reddish-brown morocco, covers with blind-tooled central medallions, cornerpieces and outer borders, with flap, flyleaves and doublures of patterned green paper, creased, 155 x 117 mm.; and Abu Muhammad Mahmud bin Ahmad al-'Ayni, Qarayir al-Qala'id fi Mukhtasar Sharh al-Shawahid, Ottoman, probably Egypt, 18th/19th Century, Arabic manuscript on cream-coloured paper, 173 leaves, 23 lines to the page written in more than one hand in naskhi script in black ink, significant words and sentences picked out or underlined in red, occasional commentaries in wide margins, catchwords, colophon on recto of last leaf written in a different hand states that the author completed the work in AH 817/AD 1414 and that this manuscript was copied by Muhammad Husain bin Muhammad Muhsin at al-Madrassah al-Badriyyah, near al-Azhar mosque, Cairo, on the 14th Ramadan 1127/12th September 1715
