A large unusual Khorasan bronze Ewer
Persia, 12th/ 13th Century
with cylindrical slightly tapering body on a rounded base, a flattened shoulder, the short cylindrical neck with large undulating tapering spout with hinged lid, a strap handle surmounted by a thumb-piece in the form of a spherical element, a frieze of inscription engraved below and above the shoulder, a further band of inscription on the front of the neck below floral decoration, the front of the spout with a stylised fish
